June 9-Echo
For those who aren't familiar, an echocardiogram is an ultrasound test of the heart. It shows the heart structure and function. The technicians have the ability to freeze images and record different intervals of the scans for the doctor. This helps the doctor determine if there are any issues with the heart. When the sound is on, you can even hear your own heart beat.
Unfortunately or fortunately, however you want to look at it, the echo appointment was scheduled on treatment day. Treatment was at 8:15am and my echo was scheduled at 3:30pm. I should also say that the 2 buildings are beside each other. So Kira did a back and forth drive since there wasn't really anywhere in Roanoke to sit and work for 4 hours in between the appointments.
The echo itself did not take long. I think it took me longer to drive there and back. Judging from the results I saw on MyChart, there's nothing alarming to report. Minor issues that I am not surprised by. Things like trace regurgitations. Nothing I am concerned about at this point. (Family history - My mother had a heart attack when she was 39, resulting in her living with congestive heart failure and eventually had a valve replacement done.)
The technician was very sweet and we were quite chatty. Thru conversations, she learned a little about my diagnosis, my medical history and laughed as she called me a "tough ol' broad" then immediately said I'm not old. We chuckled. Thank goodness God turned my day around.
Unless the doctor calls with something more to report, I consider this test ok and nothing to worry about.
