Another trip to VCU...
My appointment for the 17th was for physical therapy evaluation and another fill. Luckily I didn't need to keep the fill appointment because they completed my fills at the last appointment. The downside was that there wasn't an opening on Thursday for PT, so I got a room at a nearby hotel. My PT appointment was at 11 so I didn't even have to get up in the middle of the night to drive. 😁
They only have 2 therapists that specialize in the specific rehab I need (mastectomy patients). The therapist was nice. We went over the exercise guide and determined it really needed to be re-written as it was geared more for shoulder rehab. Reason being was that there were exercises listed that physically I couldn't do because of the expanders and not being able to lay flat. No big deal tho, together we came up with work-arounds so I could still achieve the movements. From where I've been doing "stuff" on my own at home, I'd like to think it shouldn't take very long to get back to "normal".
I had a few hours to kill after my appointment before I could check into the hotel. No biggie. Grab food since I hadn't eaten. Found a few Goodwill stores nearby so decided to "pop some tags". Found some good deals and the nicest store I think I've ever been in.... One of the Goodwill stores I stopped in was so nice, clean, organized, well stocked and even had very nice chandeliers. I couldn't believe the condition of this store! I even commented to the cashier that it was the nicest one I've ever been in. Eventually checked into the hotel and logged into my laptop and worked for the rest of the evening.
The next morning I went back over to Stony Point for my labs and office visit then it was off to the North Hospital downtown for my immunotherapy infusion. I was told to being my oral chemo meds on Friday since I still had to drive 3 hours home... just incase my body decided to revolt... they didn't want me to have to deal with nausea, vomiting or diarrhea on the drive home.
Let's talk about the chemo med right quick....
This has to come from a specialized pharmacy, no something I can pick up at the local pharmacy. I don't know why, just the way it is. The pharmacy was supposed to call me to let me know when my script would be delivered. I was told I'd be starting this at the same time I restarted the immunotherapy. My oncologist put the order in just after my last appointment with her, November 20. I called the pharmacy the script was supposed to come from on Thursday the 11th to find out the status of the delivery. They told me they had no record of my prescription. I contacted VCU again and they reassured they sent it to that pharmacy. Monday the 15th I got a text from my ex-husband that contained an audio clip. It was a message from the pharmacy about my delivery. HOW in the HELL they got his information is beyond me as he's never been affiliated with my current address, employer, insurance, doctors treating me, NOTHING. His contact info has not been anywhere NEAR my current life. I called the pharmacy immediately and, after telling them who I was, asked where they had gotten his information from. The prescription should have been in MY name with MY contact information. The person on the phone couldn't answer my question, just said he wasn't sure since he didn't set up my profile. I'm NOT done with this issue yet. I let it go for the time being as I was more concerned with getting my script in time for my appointments later in the week. The person on the phone told me that I'd have my script "in the next day or 2". I told him that was absolutely unacceptable because I needed it for my appointment and that I would not be here Wednesday to get a delivery. It needed to arrive by Tuesday evening and he needed to make it happen. My script arrived at 4:15 Tuesday evening.
