Pathology test results came in today.... I got the test results via MyChart. The problem... aside from the Lymph Node test results, I couldn't understand what the results were telling me. The lymph nodes that checked showed no cancer cells. I could not tell what the biopsy results were telling me for the actual breasts. A medical report that I couldn't understand... That drove me nuts.... Then waiting for the Doctor to call to go over the results..... I sent a message to the team via MyChart, just simply stating that I had gotten the results and was awaiting the Doctor's call. Sorta nudging them if you will. About 3:30ish, I called the office to see if I could speak to someone regarding the results. Normally I would have at least waited until the next day for the Doctor to call because I know they are busy with other patients throughout the day, but this was Friday... It would have killed me to wait until Monday to find out the results.

Dr. Louie called around 6:15pm. I had honestly given up on the idea of the Doctor calling at that point but thankfully he did call. He said the results didn't go to his email but just to my chart. He saw the message I'd sent to the team and started checking and found the test results. Sometimes it's good to reach out and "be a pest".

Dr. Louie read over the test results and explained what it all meant in English. He explained the lymph nodes came back showing that no cancer cells had made their way to those areas. He explained the left breast showed no cancer cells there either. He saved the best for last.... The right breast, the one with the cancer initially, still had a 5mm size of the original tumor left. Had I completed all the rounds of the second Chemo cocktail there probably would have been nothing left, but there was no need to keep killing myself with that crap when they were gonna remove them anyhow. Not to mention I don't think I could have handled 2 more rounds of that stuff.

So, all that being said, the surgery has effectively gotten rid of the known cancer!

He explained that in his opinion, there should not be a need for radiation or chemo treatments, but said that would be up to my oncologist to ultimately decide. He also told me there may be an oral script given that would aid in keeping the cancer from returning. Again, decision to be made by my oncologist. He was just letting me know things from his experiences.

I will say that while Dr. Louie was talking, there were tears running down my face. I thanked him several times for calling so late in the day on a Friday and letting me know instead of making me wait all weekend. Once the conversation ended, I sobbed. These were happy tears. They got the residual cancer out and there were no signs that it had spread! PRAISE THE LORD!!
